Plastic Bags

Think Outside the Bag

Plastic bags may be convenient, but they also kill marine life, use valuable resources in their manufacturing and contribute to the growing volume of waste to landfill.

Did you know?

  • South Australia, the Northern Territory and the ACT are already plastic shopping bag free.
  • Australians use over 4 billion plastic bags each year.
  • Plastic kills 1 million sea birds and 100,000 sea mammals each year.
  • The average plastic bag is used for about 12 minutes but takes up to 1000 years to break down.
