CAFNEC Christmas Appeal 2018

There is so much at stake. In Far North Queensland we are already reeling from the impacts of Climate Change: unprecedented coral bleaching and mangrove dieback, record breaking temperatures, mass die offs of endangered mammals like flying foxes and islands being inundated with seawater in the Torres Strait.

We don’t need to tell you this. We know our supporters are feeling it, experiencing it first hand, feeling it in their heart and in their community.

At CAFNEC we believe change happens in the community. Climate Change is devastating our region yet we are rollercoastering toward a Federal Election where both major parties lack credible climate policies.

The next few years will define the degree of the suffering caused by Climate Change. Most importantly the incoming Federal Government will define Australia’s part in this suffering. To exacerbate or lessen it. There will be a Federal election between now and May and we must make sure this is the Climate Election. 

This Federal Election we want to be prepared, and that’s why we’ve already been gearing up the past few months along with other environmental organisations.

This election is make or break for Climate Change in Australia. And you can help make that climate action happen.

In our community we want feet on the ground: door knocking, talking, writing, walking for a safer climate. We’ve been fighting for this region for 37 years and we don’t intend to stop.

We know we can count on all of you to stand up, stand out and get out in the community and talk about this issue but we also need your financial support. Put simply we need dollars to plan for our response in Far North Queensland, to plan for our impact.

We say this all the time but we’ll say it again: every tiny bit adds up and has real impact – we are strong in Far North Queensland because there are many of us who care for our environment. Any contribution will help us get the message to our next elected representatives that our community expects nothing less than an emergency response to the climate crisis – we must do all we can.

This Christmas donate to support CAFNEC’s climate work. We are making plans now, for next year. Donations made from 4pm Thursday 13th December til 4pm Thursday 20th of December will determine how much we can do: The more we have, the more we can do – so chip in all you can, we’re running the appeal for 7 days only!
