CAFNEC is today congratulating the Government and Independent MPs Billy Gordon and Peter Wellington on voting down a LNP motion to halt the promised restoration of land clearing controls in Queensland.

The LNP motion (27/10/15) called on the Government to not introduce any amendment’s to Queensland’s vegetation management framework.

As Deputy Premier Jackie Trad, pointed out in the House – the former Premier Campbell Newman had broken an election commitment not to wind back land clearing laws. The current Government made and election promise to bring back the protections wound back in the previous term.

The issue of ‘panic clearing’ ahead of the anticipated return to better laws means it is critical that the Government now moves quickly to fulfil its election promise and reinstate the protections for critical habitat on the Cape and throughout Queensland.

If you support bringing back protection for our forests and woodlands and the threatened species they support then send a message of encouragement via our easy to use e mailer below.
